Feelin' Alright

Dave Mason of Traffic wrote this one, and Joe Cocker totally ruined it for almost forever. But let's try to forget about him for a few minutes.

The best version by far comes from Lulu, and she kills this song from beginning to end. She sounds crazy, but the good kind of crazy. The Politicians' version is pretty good, too - it's funky and loose - but Lulu can yell.

wow, i disagree...my favorite version is the west coast revival track. joyous, exuberant etc. and don't forget the bar-kays' version too...slow and low...very funky. on their album 'money talks'.

Ha! I've got one version that very few people may have ever heard but, surprise, surprise, it was the very first version that I heard when I was growing up:
Anyone remember the all-white hard rock band signed to Motown in the "crossover" era, called Rare Earth? Well, check out their version of Feelin' Alright, and while you're at it, check out their rip-roaring bass&drum-solo-including version of that Motown staple "Get Ready" - now that for me is seriously back down Memory Lane when we danced to every riff and every snare-hit and cymbal-crash...
